Tsubasa World Chronicle Chapter 6 English Translations [SPOILERS]

[SPOILERS WARNING!! TWC Chapter 6]

These are my English translations for TWC Chapter 6. These are rough and unofficial translations, so there might be differences and errors from the official translations. Please look forward to the official translation of this chapter in the form of English scanlations from ManjuuManga.

Thoughts are in italic, background texts are written in (…) and descriptions in […] to help with the storytelling.

Feel free to share this or use this. If you do, please credit this post. Please do not use these translations for scanlations purposes. Thank you.

I’d also like to bring your attention to giniroangou, who translates TWC chapters from Japanese to English from a Tumblr blog here. If the Japanese raws are out before the Chinese raws (which seem to be happening in recent chapters), she will release the translations earlier than I do, so do follow her for the latest translations! (She’s translates for ManjuuManga as well, and I can vouch that her translations are quality work!)

Tsubasa World Chronicle Chapitre 6: The World That Can Be Seen

Cover Page

Travelling across worlds

In order to deliver the promised item

The artificial arm

Page 2

[In this paradise-like interior of Nirai Kanai, why have Kurogane and Fai taken up battle stances?]

[Kurogane draws his sword, magic flows through Fai’s fingertips as they took battle stances behind Syaoran. Syaoran turns towards them.]

Syaoran:

What’s going on with all of you?

This place is no different from the surface Nirai Kanai…

[Old woman reaches out to Syaoran’s shouder from behind.]

Page 3

Mokona:

Look out

Syaoran!!

[Kurogane shoves Syaoran back.]

Kurogane:

Che!

[Fai summons his magic and attacks the old woman.]

Syaoran:

!!

Page 4

Syaoran:

What are you doing?!

Kurogane:

I could ask you the same thing!!

[Syaoran looks confused.]

Syaoran:

?

[Mokona jumps onto Fai’s shoulder.]

Mokona:

No! This is scary!

Syaoran:

Were you trying to kill her?

Kurogane:

That should be obvious!

Page 5

[Syaoran stands to shield the villagers, now looming at the background.]

Syaoran:

What about that is obvious?!

Even if this place is the “Interior”

That’s no reason to attack people who are no different from the ones on the “Surface” Nirai Kanai!

Kurogane:

Huh?

Syaoran:

… Eh?

Page 6

[Syaoran looks back at the people standing behind him. The people look back. Their faces were curious and serene.]

Fai:

Let’s get away from these people

For the time being.

Mokona:

It’s so hard to see in all this darkness and fog.

Syaoran:

Fog…?

[Kurogane grabs Syaoran’s arm and runs.]

Kurogane:

Come on!

Page 7

[The group runs off. They stop at a deserted clifftop.]

Kurogane:

No one’s…

Fai:

… come after us, it seems.

Mokona:

That was scary!

Syaoran:

!

Page 8

Syaoran:

I’ve said this earlier, but

This place looks barely any different from the surface Nirai Kanai.

In fact, this place looks even more radiant.

Kurogane:

Haah?

Fai:

… It seems that the “Interior” of Nirai Kanai we’re seeing

Is different from the one Syaoran-kun is seeing.

Syaoran:

What do you mean?

[Fai lets Mokona hop onto Kurogane and tilts Syaoran’s chin. The other hand lights up with a magic spell.]

Fai:

Close your eyes.

Page 9

[Fai writes a magic spell in front of Syaoran’s eyes.]

Fai:

There. Now you should be able to see the things I see before my eyes.

[Syaoran opens his eyes. He looks shocked.]

Page 10-11

[Syaoran now sees a creepy, pitch black landscape that looks like something out of a nightmare.]

Page 12

Syaoran:

This is…!

[Syaoran turns back to Fai, but sees himself seeing himself instead.]

Fai:

I’ve projected my visual field onto yours, Syaoran-kun.

This is what we’ve been seeing ever since we entered this “Interior” Nirai Kanai.

Page 13

[Syaoran thinks of the people they saw earlier.]

Syaoran:

Those people as well…

Mokona:

They were really really scary…

They were all flowing with blood

I thought Syaoran was going to be attacked…

Syaoran:

How…

To me…

The scenery and the people looked beautiful, radiant and peaceful…

Fai:

Close your eyes again.

[Fai attempts his magic spell again.]

Fai:

It’s no good…

Page 14

Fai:

We can’t seem to use Syaoran-kun’s visual field to see the world around us.

Mokona:

Not even with Fai’s magic?

Kurogane:

Why?

Fai:

… Perhaps it’s because

Syaoran-kun is “the one who has touched upon Yomi”, as the Princess-Goddess said.

Syaoran:

… Please remove the spell.

Mokona:

But!

If you can’t tell whether things are dangerous around you, Syaoran-kun will…!

Page 15

Syaoran:

Even so,

There must some meaning behind why I am the only person who sees this world differently.

Fai:

Kurogane:

[Kurogane nods.]

[Fai releases his magic. Syaoran opens his eyes.]

Page 16

[Syaoran once again sees a beautiful scenery.]

Fai:

Does it still look like a beautiful place to you?

Syaoran:

… Yeah.

Kurogane:

Instead of looking through someone else’s eyes while moving around this place where we don’t know what’ll happen

It’s probably better off seeing the exact opposite.

Page 17

Kurogane:

However

It doesn’t matter what it looks to you

If I think your life is in danger

I’ll cut everything down.

Syaoran:

… I’ll be careful not to let it come to that.

Page 18

Kurogane:

Hmph.

[Kurogane aggressively ruffles Syaoran’s hair.]

Fai:

Now then~

Where should we go from here?

(Background text: Dizzy dizzy (Syaoran’s swaying from Kurogane’s aggressive head ruffle))

Mokona:

What are we supposed to do in this place?

[Syaoran points into the distance.]

Syaoran:

Over there.

It’s shining

Very brightly

[Syaoran is pointing off to a spot at the centre of the a large hill with two pointed cliffs. White light shines from that place.]

Page 19

[Mokona shivers.]

Kurogane:

Fai:

From our point of view

It’s a very, very terrifying sight.

[From Fai and Kurogane’s POV, it just looks like a black, massive swirl of… thing. Black, scary thing.]

Kurogane:

What do you want to do?

Syaoran:

I’d like to check it out.

Page 20

[Kurogane starts walking.]

Fai:

I’m sure trusting Syaoran-kun’s intuition here will lead us down the best route.

Mokona:

Mokona is scared but will try hard!

Kurogane:

Let’s get going already.

Syaoran:

… Thank you.

Page 21

[They move along. Scene changes to Watanuki’s shop. He is sat outside the shop with Black!Mokona, smoking his pipe.]

[Watanuki looks at Black!Mokona.]

Watanuki:

What’s wrong?

[Black!Mokona rubs his stomach.]

Black!Mokona:

… Somehow

Page 22

Black!Mokona:

This area

Feels weird, I guess

Watanuki:

Which area?

Black!Mokona:

My stomach.

Watanuki:

… Where even is your stomach?

Black!Mokona:

So rude to Mokona!

It’s this area!

[Black!Mokona furiously pats his stomach.]

(Background text:

Watanuki:

I get it.

I get it.)

[Black!Mokona hops onto Watanuki’s hand.]

Watanuki:

… Mokona

I would like to connect with the other Mokona

To speak to Syaoran and the others.

Black!Mokona:

Sure!

Page 23

[Black!Mokona tries to make the connection. The gem on Black!Mokona’s head flickers.]

Watanuki:

!

Black!Mokona:

It’s not working.

I can’t connect with them!

Page 24

Watanuki:

… This is…

[Scene returns to Syaoran and the others from the POV of Fai and Kurogane. Kurogane notices something and holds up his sword. Fai throws an arm in front of Syaoran.]

Kurogane:

Get out of the way.

Syaoran:

!

Page 25

[A group of ferocious, wolf-like creatures leaps out at them. Kurogane attacks them while Fai shields Syaoran. Blood splatters onto Fai’s shielding arm.]

Page 26

[One of the wolf-like creature bites hard onto Kurogane’s sword. Blood drips down its jaws.]

Kurogane:

Che

[Kurogane continues to attack the beasts.]

Page 27

[All the beasts fall to the ground. Suddenly, a gigantic beast approach them from the shadows, groaning and moaning.]

Page 28

[The gigantic two-headed beast roars.]

Page 29

[Kurogane slices the beast in half.]

Page 30:

[The beast collapses. Syaoran flinches at the blood in front of his feet.]

[Fai waves at Syaoran’s face.]

Kurogane:

… Kid

Keep up and don’t look down.

[They move on. The scenery looks beautiful again (cut to Syaoran’s POV).]

Syaoran:

Are you hurt?

Kurogane:

As if.

Page 31

Fai:

It’s best to leave these things to the ninja-like person.

Kurogane:

I told you I am a ninja, you vaudeville magician.

Fai:

How cruel~

I can use proper magic!

[Kurogane turns to Syaoran.]

Kurogane:

We’re headed this way, right?

Syaoran:

Yeah.

[They draw closer to the heart of the world!! Next issue will appear with the cover and opening page in color!!]

Tsubasa World Chronicle Chapitre 5: No Matter What Awaits

Cover Page

Holding onto their resolves

Morphing them into strength

Page 3

[With a single sword strike, Kurogane drives back the undersea monster! Could this world enveloped in night be Nirai Kanai?!]

[Syaoran, Fai and Kurogane surfaces on the water.]

Fai:

Gasp

Mokona:

What was that scary thing!?

Fai:

Koron-pi, were those gurgling sounds the name of your technique~?

[Note: Yes, it’s actually Koron-pi. Yes, Fai is getting creative.]

Kurogane:

Shut up.

[Syaoran notices something at the corner of his eyes.]

Syaoran:

!!

Page 4

[A hoard of sea monsters charges towards them.]

Kurogane:

Tenma

Kuuryuusen!

[Kurogane’s attack destroys the monsters.]

Page 5

Fai:

I heard the name clearly this time

I’m not sure what the difference was though~

Syaoran:

(Ah..)

[Kurogane presses down hard on Fai’s head.]

Fai:

I told you

That really

Hurts

[A large hoard of the monsters approach them.]

Mokona:

A whole bunch of them

Are comiiiiing!

Page 6

Syaoran:

We’re at a disadvantage in the water.

Let’s get onto the beach!

Kurogane:

Che!

[They swim rapidly towards the beach. The monsters follow them. An attack hits fairly close to Fai and Mokona.]

Mokona:

Kyaaa!

Page 7

[The three managed to reach shore.]

Fai:

(Huff)

Page 8

[They watch as the monsters retreats into the sea.]

Fai:

Seems like they’re not amphibious.

Mokona:

That was scary~~!

(Waaah!)

Fai:

(There there)

[Fai comforts Mokona. Kurogane look towards the black sky.]

Kurogane:

But why did it turn into night all of a sudden?

Syaoran:

“Souls of the living come from Nirai Kanai,

Souls of the dead return to Nirai Kanai.”

Page 9

Fai:

So we’re in a different world from the Nirai Kanai we were in before

I assume that’s how it is.

Mokona:

Is it like the country of Shura and the country of Yama?

Syaoran:

I’m not sure yet,

However

Page 10

Syaoran:

I have a feeling it’s different

From that world I “saw” with Syaoran.

Mokona, Fai, and Kurogane:

[Kurogane walks away from the sea,]

Kurogane:

… Standing around won’t get us anywhere.

Let’s move away from the beach for now.

Fai:

It would be nice if we could change our clothes too.

Page 11

Kurogane:

And have some sake.

Fai:

Come on Kuron-ta. All the fluids in your body must be made up of sake by now ~

(Ahahaha)

[Syaoran looks towards the sea, then turns back with his eyes closed.]

Syaoran:

… For now

We must first learn more about the nature of the abnormalities in this world.

Page 12

[They walk inland. The world is dark around them, surrounded by trees.]

Mokona:

It’s dark

I can’t see anything clearly!

(It’s scaaary!)

Fai:

(It is~)

Kurogane:

(Haah?)

This isn’t that bad.

There’s a fork in the path up ahead.

Fai:

Your night vision is amazing as always Kuro-rin.

Mokona:

Just like a ninja~ !

(Nin nin)

[Kurogane gives Fai and Mokona rough pats to the head]

Kurogane:

I am a ninja.

Fai and Mokona:

Ow!

(I give up! I give up!)

Page 13

Syaoran:

Raika.

[A small light lights up in Syaoran’s hands. He turns to Mokona.]

I’m sorry it’s a bit small, but…

Something dangerous could spot this light and come toward us.

Mokona:

Thank you, Syaoran!

Fai:

Ah…

[They see a shack ahead.]

Mokona:

A house…?

Page 14

Kurogane:

It’s more like

A shack.

Syaoran:

I can’t sense…

Fai:

… anyone’s presence.

Syaoran:

It might contain some clues to help us learn about this world.

Let’s check it out.

[They walk towards the shack. Mokona makes a discomforted expression.]

Mokona:

Fai:

What’s wrong, Mokona?

Mokona:

I sort of feel a little weird…

Syaoran:

Are you all right?

Page 15

[Mokona holds her stomach.]

Mokona:

It’s like…

The inside of my stomach feels weird…

Fai:

(There there.)

Kurogane:

Where even is your stomach?

That said, where does the inside of it lead to?

Mokona:

So rude to Mokona!

It’s this area!

(Here)

[Mokona pats her stomach. Kurogane’s expression turns concerned.]

Kurogane:

Does it hurt?

[Mokona smiles and rubs her stomach.]

Mokona:

It doesn’t hurt.

I’m okay.

Sorry.

Fai:

You shouldn’t push yourself.

Syaoran:

Tell us right away if it starts hurting.

Mokona:

Yeah.

Thanks everyone.

[Kurogane pulls open the door.]

Kurogane:

I’m opening it.

Page 16

Everyone:

?!

[A lone, hooded person sits in the middle of the room. He holds a staff.]

Page 17

Kurogane:

Didn’t you say there wasn’t anyone here?

Fai:

There shouldn’t be.

Kurogane:

Which means…

[The stranger pulls down his hood, revealing a man with a young, handsome face.]

Page 18

Mokona:

What a pretty person~

Stranger:

Thank you.

And

Welcome to Nirai Kanai

Travellers from the “Outside” Nirai Kanai.

Page 19

Syaoran:

Does that mean this place is the “Inside”?

Stranger:

I only described it that way to help you understand.

Both places are Nirai Kanai

And this is simply the “Space Between.”

They are both the same,

Yet they are different.

Because there is something you must do

In order to cross over to the other Nirai Kanai.

Page 20

[The stranger points to a circular figure in the middle of the darkness. It is the door to the other Nirai Kanai.]

Syaoran:

So this is like a checkpoint before crossing to the world of the dead.

Stranger:

I suppose that’s what you would call it in your world

Syaoran.

Syaoran:

My name…

Page 21

Stranger:

I know it.

Whatever you call yourself in Nirai Kanai

It will reach me.

There’s no need to be so cautious

Since it’s not even your real name.

Syaoran:

… You know about that too.

Stranger:

I suppose it’s not fair if I’m the only one who has all the information.

You can call me “Kujaku.”

Fai:

I assume that’s an alias as well?

Page 22

Kujaku:

I simply like to play.

My name is another form of playing.

[Note: The last two sentences were incredibly awkward to translate. What Kujaku is trying to say that he is a drifter, aka a person who enjoys playing around generally in the sense of alcohol, sex and gambling. But because he’s saying it as an explanation for the fact that his name itself is a game, there needs to be a word used that gives a sense of playing around a little more. (Thanks giniroangou for the explanation!)]

Syaoran:

Kujaku:

So?

What will you do?

Syaoran:

Please tell us what we have to do

To cross over to the other Nirai Kanai.

Page 23

Kujaku:

Even when

You don’t know what lies ahead?

Syaoran:

It doesn’t matter what awaits.

I will still do whatever I can.

Page 24

Kujaku:

… As long as you understand that

I don’t see why not.

Kujaku:

Now, pay the toll to cross.

Kurogane:

What is this, the Sanzu River?

Fai:

San…?

Kurogane:

It’s the river that divides this world and that world.

[Note: These were the actual wording used by Kurogane. It can be assumed that he is referring to the worlds of the living and the dead.]

Page 25

Fai:

Like Lethe…

No wait. That was the river of forgetfulness.

(Hmm…)

<Top text: Lethe River is the river of forgetfulness in Greek Mythology. It’s one of the five rivers of Hades.>

Mokona:

Fai, do you have our money?

[Fai reaches into his yukata.]

Fai:

Yup

It’s right…

[Fai pats his body all over. Kurogane looks annoyed.]

Kurogane:

… Oi.

Fai:

I might have dropped it when we fell into the water earlier~

Mokona:

(Eeeh?)

[Fai rubs his head sheepishly, Mokona looks alarmed. Kurogane looks like he was struck by Tomoyo-evil style lightning and proceeded to painfully rub Fai’s head painfully.]

Kujaku:

Ah, it isn’t that child’s fault.

Kurogane:

Haah?!

Page 26

Kujaku:

You cannot bring things from the “Outside” into here.

Mokona:

What happens if we have no money?

Kujaku:

You can’t cross over.

Mokona:

Eeeeeeeh?!

[Syaoran fishes something from his clothes.]

Mokona:

?? Did you not lose yours, Syaoran?

Syaoran:

So it seems.

[Syaoran tips the pouch and three coins drop into his palm.]

Page 27

[Kujaku recognises the items.]

Kujaku:

It seems like you carry something amazing with you here.

They are imbued with “good fortune.”

And quite too.

Did you use magic to create them, Syaoran?

Syaoran:

… No

Someone gave them to me.

[Watanuki comes into his mind at the background]

Page 28

[Syaoran gives Kujaku the three coins.]

Kujaku:

These will be plenty for the toll.

If you touch that door, you will  be in the other Nirai Kanai.

[Syaoran and co approach the door.]

Syaoran:

Thank you.

Kujaku:

You’re very welcome.

Page 29

[Syaoran, Fai and Kurogane touch the door. It shines.]

Kujaku:

… On the “Inside”

There may be something you seek./You may find the person you seek.

[Note: We have two sets of translations here – primarily one refers to something and the other refers to someone ‘you’ seek. Scanlations will come to a conclusion and clarify this, but in the meantime, this is the best option to share with everyone.]

Page 30-31

Kujaku:

Be sure not to make the wrong choice.

Syaoran.

Syaoran:

Eh?

[They disappear into the door. Kujaku merely watches.]

Page 32

[Syaoran opens his eyes. He sees a beautiful land with greenery, flowers, clear water and mountains.]

Syaoran:

This is…

The other Nirai Kanai?

Page 33

Syaoran:

Then what were those withered trees I saw on the “Outside”…?

[Syaoran spots an old lady walking through the field. He approaches her.]

Syaoran:

Excuse me, may I ask…

[Kurogane grabs Syaoran and pulls him back, his sword drawn.]

Kurogane:

Idiot!

Page 34

[Kurogane points the sword at the old lady. Both Kurogane and Fai look alert and wary.]

Page 35

[Fai and Kurogane face the old lady warily. Mokona is crying and looks alarmed.]

Mokona:

This place

It’s scary!!

Syaoran:

Eh…?

[Faced with this seemingly tranquil scenery, everyone other than Syaoran becomes hyper vigilant!! What in the world is happening?! To be continued in the next issue!!]

Tsubasa World Chronicle Chapitre 4: The Mutual Existence of the Living and the Dead

Cover Page

In the faraway land

Praying for a safe journey

That is the promise

Between Sakura and Syaoran

Page 1

[A Sakura petal drops onto Sakura’s palm. The petal passes through her palm.]

Page 2

[Sakura awakens in the water reservoir of the Clow ruins.]

Sakura:

Syaoran…

Page 3

Yukito:

Looks like you’ve accidentally entered the “Dream world” in the middle of your prayers.

Sakura:

… Yes.

Yukito:

Was the dream… about Syaoran-kun?

Page 4

Sakura:

… Yes.

As expected…

He has decided to help solve the abnormalities happening in Nirai Kanai.

Page 5

[Yukito holds Sakura’ hand.]

Yukito:

Don’t worry.

Syaoran-kun knows that here,

There is someone who prays for their safety and waits for their return.

Page 6

Sakura:

You’re right.

[Scene changes to Syaoran and co. flying in the skies of Nirai Kanai on the lion-like spirits.]

Fai:

It really is very beautiful

This island.

Mokona:

But didn’t the Goddess say that something scary might happen to this place?

Page 7

Mokona:

It’s so beautiful, and yet…

[Scene changes to back when they were in the palace.]

Ukon:

This is Nirai Kanai.

It stands as the origin of harvest and life at the easternmost land.

It is also an island in which the Gods reside.

People here believe that the Gods live on this island.

They devote their prayers to them every day.

The Goddess is the intermediary between the people and the Gods.

Fai:

So she’s a Miko (Priestess).

Sakon:

Not quite.

It’s more accurate to say she’s a living God.

Page 8

Sakon:

The chosen one becomes a God who protects this island, for the length of time in which they are chosen.

Syaoran:

So she’s like a Child of the Gods?

Goddess:

Child of the Gods?

Syaoran:

There are worlds I’ve been to where people gave similar Goddesses such titles.

Goddess:

Syaoran has been to many kinds of worlds and has learned many different things.

[Syaoran blushes.]

Ukon:

There is also an old saying in Nirai Kanai

Page 9

Ukon:

“Souls of the living passes from Nirai Kanai,

Souls of the dead returns to Nirai Kanai.”

Page 10

Syaoran:

You’re saying…

Fai:

It’s not that those who are born enter the world of the living,

Nor the dead returning to skies or the land.

They exist here in Nirai Kanai.

That’s how it is… huh.

This is a place where living people reside,

It’s also the place where the dead returns to.

Mokona:

But,

But-

Page 11

Mokona:

The people on this island are friendly and kind.

They’re not scary at all!

Goddess:

Nirai Kanai is a land where the living reside.

It is also the place where the souls of the dead return to.

Both exist together, yet are completely separated from each other.

Mokona:

What do you mean?

Syaoran:

They exist in different dimensions.

Page 12

Goddess:

The worlds of the living and the dead mutually exist alongside one another.

However, there are no interactions between the two.

That is the way it has always been.

But…

Page 13

[Scene cuts back to Syaoran and co in the present]

Fai:

Do you see it?

[Syaoran points to the island. It looks normal.]

Syaoran:

Over there.

Page 14

Fai:

All I see is a tiny, beautiful island.

It’s as the Goddess said. Syaoran-kun is the only one who can see the abnormalities.

Kurogane:

(SFX: Evil grin)

Let’s look at it as killing time.

Who knows what kinds of good sake or the kinds of strong people there are on the other side.

Page 15

[Fai raises hand enthusiastically.]

Fai:

I will go too!

To stop Kuro-rin from causing trouble on the other side.

Kurogane:

(Annoyed)

The one causing trouble to everyone is you.

Fai:

(Shakes head)

Those people simply don’t know me very well.

[Kurogane aggressively pats Fai’s head.]

Fai:

Hurts! It hurts! It. Really. Hurts!

Mokona:

Mokona will come along too!

Everyone won’t be able to understand each other if Mokona isn’t there!

Page 16

Mokona:

Mokona will watch out for everyone for Sakura,

To make sure nobody forces themselves too hard.

Syaoran:

Thank you.

Let’s go.

To the other Nirai Kanai.

Page 17

[Scene changes to palace in the present.]

Ukon:

Is it okay to leave everything to those travellers?

Sakon:

It’s the best we can do.

Goddess:

Don’t worry.

Syaoran and his companions are strong. They will definitely return from the other world.

Ukon:

I’m not worried about them returning.

I’m worried whether they will be able to solve the abnormalities happening in Nirai Kanai…

Goddess:

Yes.

You’re worried whether or not they will get hurt from solving the abnormalities happening here in Nirai Kanai.

Page 18

Ukon:

I’ve already said,

It’s not like that.

Sakon:

Nothing escapes the eyes of the Goddess.

Ukon:

Goddess:

Together with Sakura

Let’s believe in them and wait for their return.

At the same time,

Let us do the things we can do.

Page 19

[Scene changes back to Syaoran and co. They’re still flying on the spirits. The winds are stronger as they approach the island.]

Syaoran:

Over there.

[Syaoran points to a large, black hole in the middle of the island.]

Mokona:

Is that a cave?

Syaoran:

The feeling is strongest over there.

Kurogane:

What is it?

Page 20

Syaoran:

… The best way to describe it

Is that it’s a “Being without Life”.

Mokona:

Does that mean it’s already dead…?

Fai:

Kurogane:

We’ll know it when we see it.

Syaoran:

… You’re right.

Let’s go.

Page 21

[Syaoran and co enters the hole. The spirits disappear.]

Syaoran:

?!

Page 22

[Syaoran falls and drops into the water. He sinks.]

Syaoran:

Everyone…

Page 23

[Syaoran swims and breaks to the surface.]

Page 24

[Fai breaks to the surface and sneezes. Kurogane resurfaces shortly. Mokona is still clung to Kurogane’s shoulder.]

Kurogane:

Is everyone alright?

Syaoran:

I’m fine.

Fai:

Yup~

However…

Page 25-26

[They face a pitch black world.]

Mokona:

How has it become night time?!

Page 27

[Kurogane sinks down to the water suddenly and violently, followed by Fai and Syaoran. They are dragged underwater by tentacles.]

Everyone:

!!

Page 28

[A large monster sits at the bottom of the ocean.]

Syaoran:

What is this?!

Page 29

[Fai holds onto Mokona and defends them from the tentacles. Syaoran is dragged from the feet and is slammed onto his back. They struggle as the monster drags them in the water.]

Syaoran:

!

Page 30

[Kurogane draws his sword Ginryuu with magic (similar as to back in Celes?).]

Kurogane:

(Underwater sounds as he speaks, presumably Hama Ryuu-oujin)

Page 31-32

[Kurogane strikes the monster.]

[Text: Kurogane’s heart resonates in that one strike! What is the monster that lives at the bottom of the sea?! Until the next issue!]

Tsubasa World Chronicles Chapter 3 English Translations [SPOILERS]

[SPOILERS WARNING!! TWC CHAPTER 3]

These are my English translations for TWC Chapter 3. These are unofficial translations, so there might be differences and even errors from the official translations.

In this chapter, I’ve shortened ‘Princess-Goddess’ from my previous translations to ‘Goddess’. It fits the context much better. It’s also clear in this chapter that Nirai Kanai (Ideal Village) is an island village, so the words ‘village’ and ‘island’ (excluding the tiny island where the forest is) could be seen as the same thing from this translation onwards.

Thoughts are in italic, background texts are written in (…) and descriptions in <…> to help with the storytelling.

Feel free to share this or use this. If you do, please credit this post. Also, if you’re using the translations for scanlations purposes, don’t hesitate to contact me as I’m more than happy modify the texts to fit the scans. Thank you!

Tsubasa World Chronicles Chapitre 3: Meeting the Goddess

Colour Page

Behind the gentle smile

Therein lies kindness and strength

Page 1

[Text: Soaring in the skies, Syaoran sees a different scenery on Nirai Kanai (Ideal Village)?!]

Syaoran:

The forest… withered?!

Fai:

Syaoran?

Page 2

<Syaoran points to the withered forest>

Syaoran:

Over there…

Fai:

Over there?

<They look. The forest on the island is whole.>

Syaoran:

?!

Nothing… I was mistaken.

Page 3

<A large palace looms ahead>

Mokona:

Wow~! It’s big!

Kurogane:

<looks down at the main gate>

Oi, is it okay not using the main gate?

Fai:

I’m sure it’s alright. The Goddess summoned us in the first place.

Mokona:

Waaaa!

<They fly across the sky and jump off onto the edge of a hallway>

Page 4

Syaoran:

?!

<The two strangers they saw in the festival stand waiting. Stranger 1 is smiling, Stranger 2 is glaring.>

Page 5

Stranger 1:

I’m sorry to ask for your presence so early in the morning.

Syaoran:

I would like to know why you called us here.

Also, we have questions we would like to ask.

Stranger 1:

Our master would be happy to answer them.

Page 6

Stranger 1:

She’s been waiting. Let us take you to see her.

<Stranger 2 glares and turns away>

<They walk in the hall. Stranger 2 walks ahead while Stranger 1 walks behind them.>

<Fai glances to the back. Stranger 1 waves at him with a smile. He smiles and waves back.>

Fai:

(to Syaoran) We’re tightly surrounded…

Even though he’s smiling, that guy’s following Kuro-kuro(?) tightly, who looks the strongest in battle among us.

It’s clear they don’t trust us.

Page 7

Syaoran:

… I’ll be careful.

<They reach a small room covered with curtains>

Stranger 2:

… They’re here.

Page 8

<The curtain sweeps aside to reveal the Goddess. She’s sitting cross-legged on the cushions, eating a bowl of noodles with a comical expression on her face. A pile of bowls lay next to her>

Goddess:

Hmm?

Mokona:

Waa-! That’s a lot of bowls!

Syaoran:

No, that-

<The Goddess holds out the bowl to Syaoran>

Goddess:

Would you like some? It’s called Suba (Noodles).

Syaoran:

But- That- I just had some.

Goddess:

Did you like it?

Syaoran:

It’s-

Page 9

Syaoran:

It’s delicious.

<Goddess takes Syaoran’s hands. Her eyes are sparkly>

Goddess:

Suba (Noodles) are delicious, but I love all the other noodles too!

Syaoran:

Eh? Eh?

Goddess:

Let’s eat some noodles!

Syaoran:

EHHH?!

Mokona:

She’s completely different from the festival last night.

Fai:

Yup!

Page 10

<Scene cuts to all of them sitting around a table with bowls of noodles>

Kurogane:

Did you summon us here to eat noodles…?

Goddess:

Itadakimasu!

Two strangers:

Itadakimasu.

Fai:

Considering her tiny frame, she eats a lot.

<Kurogane stares suspiciously at the bowl of noodles in front of him>

Stranger 1:

All the noodles were made from the same pot.

Stranger 2:

There’s no reason for us to poison your meal.

Page 11

Goddess:

You mustn’t waste them.

These are food made from the villagers’ hard work, food they gave us as tribute.

The noodles in particular are special.

Mokona:

Why are they special?

Goddess:

THEY’RE MY FAVOURITE.

<Syaoran pulls out his chopsticks>

Page 12

Syaoran:

Itadakimasu.

<They eat. Mokona steals food from Kurogane’s bowl>

Page 13

Mokona:

That was delicious!

Syaoran:

Thank you for the meal.

Goddess:

Are you full?

Syaoran:

Yes. We had some Suba (Noodles) this morning before we came.

Goddess:

How much did you have?

Syaoran:

Um… one bowl.

Goddess:

You only ate two bowls (in total)?!

Stranger 1:

(to Goddess) That’s normally how much people eat.

Stranger 2:

(to Goddess) Noodles are good, but it’s important to eat some vegetables and fish too.

Goddess:

Mm! (Yes!)

Mokona:

The three of you seem very close! Would you tell us your names?

Stranger 1:

Sorry, we haven’t introduced ourselves.

My name is Sakon.

This (Stranger 2) is Ukon.

[Note: Their names read 左近 and 右近 respectively in the Chinese translations and I’ve only managed to piece the names together from a lot of random googling in Japanese and Mandarin. If the proper kanji pronunciations are different, especially if it’s as a name or title, please let me know!]

Page 14

Sakon:

I’m afraid we have to spare her (the Goddess’) name.

Syaoran:

(to Goddess) Are you concealing your real name?

Goddess:

Aren’t you?

(Background text: Shock)

Syaoran:

Why do you think I am?

Page 15

Ukon:

You should tell us your names before asking any more questions, even if they aren’t real names.

Fai:

You’re the same. Those aren’t your real names, right?

Just like the Goddess’, they are merely titles.

Sakon:

Ukon:

Mokona:

Can I introduce everyone?

Syaoran:

… Yes.

Mokona:

Mokona is Mokona!

Page 16

Mokona:

This is Syaoran! Fai! Kurogane!

Kurogane is short tempered and a drunkard!

Nice to meet everyone!

<Kurogane grabs Mokona>

Kurogane:

What’s with that introduction…?

Sakon:

Ah, you’re saying he has (high?) alcohol capacity.

<Mokona is strangled by Kurogane>

Mokona:

Ahhh!

(Background text: Mokona is turning pear-shaped! Mokona doesn’t look like Mokona anymore!)

Goddess:

Once again, thank you for coming, Syaoran, Kurogane, Fai, Mokona.

Page 17

Syaoran:

Can I ask something first?

Ukon:

Yes.

<Syaoran fishes out the Sakura flower>

Syaoran:

This flower… Is it meant just for me?

Goddess:

Yes.

Syaoran:

Do you know the flower’s name?

Goddess:

Yes.

Page 18

Goddess:

[Sakura]. It’s the name of the person you hold dear.

Page 19

Syaoran:

Did you meet Sakura in a dream?

Goddess:

Yes. That’s because all dreams are connected.

Syaoran:

Do you have the powers of a dreamseer?

Goddess:

It was one of the conditions in becoming a Goddess,

To see the future of Nirai Kanai in order to protect it.

Page 20

Goddess:

Sakura-chan and I dreamed of you and your companions reaching Nirai Kanai. We dreamt of you travelling across worlds and reaching here.

Sakura-chan could see the kind of place this village is,

So she prayed for everyone’s safety and happiness.

But-

Page 21

Goddess:

It has become increasingly difficult to do so.

Syaoran:

On our way here, when we were looking down from the sky,

Page 22

Syaoran:

There was black fog shrouding the edge of the island.

The forest on the island had withered away.

Fai:

Did you really see that?

Syaoran:

Sorry, I thought I was mistaken. But…

Page 23

Goddess:

You weren’t mistaken.

That is not something that could be seen by anyone.

The only ones who can see the anomalies are the people who had touched upon [Yomi].

[Note: Actual translation is ‘Yellow river (黄泉)’. It describes a place where the dead goes to, similar to the Netherworld. The only difference to this is that Yomi is both a state and a place. Using the concept of Ying and Yang, the living is described to be the ‘Yang’ of existence (light), while the dead is ‘Ying’ (the opposite of light).]

Page 24

Syaoran:

Yomi…

Goddess:

The point between life and death, neither living nor dead,

People who had stood at that very point in space and time,

I saw in my dreams that you (Syaoran) were that kind of person.

[Note: The Goddess is referring to Syaoran and Watanuki trapped in the black space shortly after Fei Wong’s death]

Page 25

Syaoran:

Indeed…

Goddess:

You have also returned from that point.

Syaoran:

… Yes.

Goddess:

Only those who had touched upon Yomi and returned could change what is happening in Nirai Kanai. But,

Page 26

Goddess:

You are all travelers.

I’m glad you came to Nirai Kanai, but you are not citizens of this island.

That is why I cannot see the future.

Mokona:

Future?

Goddess:

The choices you and your companions will make, what will happen to Nirai Kanai, a way to stop the abnormalities. Are they all interconnected, I wonder?

Page 27

Kurogane:

Syaoran’s the only one who can change this, right?

Goddess:

Yes. But,

The ones who have to choose are each and every one of you.

Page 28

Fai:

Is that really a good thing…?

Goddess:

Sakura-chan dreamt the same thing. She’s worried that all of you would be hurt again.

Syaoran:

Sakura…

Page 29

Goddess:

To live for the sake of those we hold dear, and to make choices for that sake, that is my request to everyone.

Page 30

Syaoran:

My presence here and now is an inevitability.

Please tell us what’s happening in Nirai Kanai,

And what I can do within my power to help you.

[Syaoran makes a choice. He decides to battle the abnormalities of this world!! Until the next issue!]
