Tsubasa World Chronicle Chapitre 4: The Mutual Existence of the Living and the Dead

Cover Page

In the faraway land

Praying for a safe journey

That is the promise

Between Sakura and Syaoran

Page 1

[A Sakura petal drops onto Sakura’s palm. The petal passes through her palm.]

Page 2

[Sakura awakens in the water reservoir of the Clow ruins.]

Sakura:

Syaoran…

Page 3

Yukito:

Looks like you’ve accidentally entered the “Dream world” in the middle of your prayers.

Sakura:

… Yes.

Yukito:

Was the dream… about Syaoran-kun?

Page 4

Sakura:

… Yes.

As expected…

He has decided to help solve the abnormalities happening in Nirai Kanai.

Page 5

[Yukito holds Sakura’ hand.]

Yukito:

Don’t worry.

Syaoran-kun knows that here,

There is someone who prays for their safety and waits for their return.

Page 6

Sakura:

You’re right.

[Scene changes to Syaoran and co. flying in the skies of Nirai Kanai on the lion-like spirits.]

Fai:

It really is very beautiful

This island.

Mokona:

But didn’t the Goddess say that something scary might happen to this place?

Page 7

Mokona:

It’s so beautiful, and yet…

[Scene changes to back when they were in the palace.]

Ukon:

This is Nirai Kanai.

It stands as the origin of harvest and life at the easternmost land.

It is also an island in which the Gods reside.

People here believe that the Gods live on this island.

They devote their prayers to them every day.

The Goddess is the intermediary between the people and the Gods.

Fai:

So she’s a Miko (Priestess).

Sakon:

Not quite.

It’s more accurate to say she’s a living God.

Page 8

Sakon:

The chosen one becomes a God who protects this island, for the length of time in which they are chosen.

Syaoran:

So she’s like a Child of the Gods?

Goddess:

Child of the Gods?

Syaoran:

There are worlds I’ve been to where people gave similar Goddesses such titles.

Goddess:

Syaoran has been to many kinds of worlds and has learned many different things.

[Syaoran blushes.]

Ukon:

There is also an old saying in Nirai Kanai

Page 9

Ukon:

“Souls of the living passes from Nirai Kanai,

Souls of the dead returns to Nirai Kanai.”

Page 10

Syaoran:

You’re saying…

Fai:

It’s not that those who are born enter the world of the living,

Nor the dead returning to skies or the land.

They exist here in Nirai Kanai.

That’s how it is… huh.

This is a place where living people reside,

It’s also the place where the dead returns to.

Mokona:

But,

But-

Page 11

Mokona:

The people on this island are friendly and kind.

They’re not scary at all!

Goddess:

Nirai Kanai is a land where the living reside.

It is also the place where the souls of the dead return to.

Both exist together, yet are completely separated from each other.

Mokona:

What do you mean?

Syaoran:

They exist in different dimensions.

Page 12

Goddess:

The worlds of the living and the dead mutually exist alongside one another.

However, there are no interactions between the two.

That is the way it has always been.

But…

Page 13

[Scene cuts back to Syaoran and co in the present]

Fai:

Do you see it?

[Syaoran points to the island. It looks normal.]

Syaoran:

Over there.

Page 14

Fai:

All I see is a tiny, beautiful island.

It’s as the Goddess said. Syaoran-kun is the only one who can see the abnormalities.

Kurogane:

(SFX: Evil grin)

Let’s look at it as killing time.

Who knows what kinds of good sake or the kinds of strong people there are on the other side.

Page 15

[Fai raises hand enthusiastically.]

Fai:

I will go too!

To stop Kuro-rin from causing trouble on the other side.

Kurogane:

(Annoyed)

The one causing trouble to everyone is you.

Fai:

(Shakes head)

Those people simply don’t know me very well.

[Kurogane aggressively pats Fai’s head.]

Fai:

Hurts! It hurts! It. Really. Hurts!

Mokona:

Mokona will come along too!

Everyone won’t be able to understand each other if Mokona isn’t there!

Page 16

Mokona:

Mokona will watch out for everyone for Sakura,

To make sure nobody forces themselves too hard.

Syaoran:

Thank you.

Let’s go.

To the other Nirai Kanai.

Page 17

[Scene changes to palace in the present.]

Ukon:

Is it okay to leave everything to those travellers?

Sakon:

It’s the best we can do.

Goddess:

Don’t worry.

Syaoran and his companions are strong. They will definitely return from the other world.

Ukon:

I’m not worried about them returning.

I’m worried whether they will be able to solve the abnormalities happening in Nirai Kanai…

Goddess:

Yes.

You’re worried whether or not they will get hurt from solving the abnormalities happening here in Nirai Kanai.

Page 18

Ukon:

I’ve already said,

It’s not like that.

Sakon:

Nothing escapes the eyes of the Goddess.

Ukon:

Goddess:

Together with Sakura

Let’s believe in them and wait for their return.

At the same time,

Let us do the things we can do.

Page 19

[Scene changes back to Syaoran and co. They’re still flying on the spirits. The winds are stronger as they approach the island.]

Syaoran:

Over there.

[Syaoran points to a large, black hole in the middle of the island.]

Mokona:

Is that a cave?

Syaoran:

The feeling is strongest over there.

Kurogane:

What is it?

Page 20

Syaoran:

… The best way to describe it

Is that it’s a “Being without Life”.

Mokona:

Does that mean it’s already dead…?

Fai:

Kurogane:

We’ll know it when we see it.

Syaoran:

… You’re right.

Let’s go.

Page 21

[Syaoran and co enters the hole. The spirits disappear.]

Syaoran:

?!

Page 22

[Syaoran falls and drops into the water. He sinks.]

Syaoran:

Everyone…

Page 23

[Syaoran swims and breaks to the surface.]

Page 24

[Fai breaks to the surface and sneezes. Kurogane resurfaces shortly. Mokona is still clung to Kurogane’s shoulder.]

Kurogane:

Is everyone alright?

Syaoran:

I’m fine.

Fai:

Yup~

However…

Page 25-26

[They face a pitch black world.]

Mokona:

How has it become night time?!

Page 27

[Kurogane sinks down to the water suddenly and violently, followed by Fai and Syaoran. They are dragged underwater by tentacles.]

Everyone:

!!

Page 28

[A large monster sits at the bottom of the ocean.]

Syaoran:

What is this?!

Page 29

[Fai holds onto Mokona and defends them from the tentacles. Syaoran is dragged from the feet and is slammed onto his back. They struggle as the monster drags them in the water.]

Syaoran:

!

Page 30

[Kurogane draws his sword Ginryuu with magic (similar as to back in Celes?).]

Kurogane:

(Underwater sounds as he speaks, presumably Hama Ryuu-oujin)

Page 31-32

[Kurogane strikes the monster.]

[Text: Kurogane’s heart resonates in that one strike! What is the monster that lives at the bottom of the sea?! Until the next issue!]
