Tsubasa World Chronicles Chapter 3 English Translations [SPOILERS]

[SPOILERS WARNING!! TWC CHAPTER 3]

These are my English translations for TWC Chapter 3. These are unofficial translations, so there might be differences and even errors from the official translations.

In this chapter, I’ve shortened ‘Princess-Goddess’ from my previous translations to ‘Goddess’. It fits the context much better. It’s also clear in this chapter that Nirai Kanai (Ideal Village) is an island village, so the words ‘village’ and ‘island’ (excluding the tiny island where the forest is) could be seen as the same thing from this translation onwards.

Thoughts are in italic, background texts are written in (…) and descriptions in <…> to help with the storytelling.

Feel free to share this or use this. If you do, please credit this post. Also, if you’re using the translations for scanlations purposes, don’t hesitate to contact me as I’m more than happy modify the texts to fit the scans. Thank you!

Tsubasa World Chronicles Chapitre 3: Meeting the Goddess

Colour Page

Behind the gentle smile

Therein lies kindness and strength

Page 1

[Text: Soaring in the skies, Syaoran sees a different scenery on Nirai Kanai (Ideal Village)?!]

Syaoran:

The forest… withered?!

Fai:

Syaoran?

Page 2

<Syaoran points to the withered forest>

Syaoran:

Over there…

Fai:

Over there?

<They look. The forest on the island is whole.>

Syaoran:

?!

Nothing… I was mistaken.

Page 3

<A large palace looms ahead>

Mokona:

Wow~! It’s big!

Kurogane:

<looks down at the main gate>

Oi, is it okay not using the main gate?

Fai:

I’m sure it’s alright. The Goddess summoned us in the first place.

Mokona:

Waaaa!

<They fly across the sky and jump off onto the edge of a hallway>

Page 4

Syaoran:

?!

<The two strangers they saw in the festival stand waiting. Stranger 1 is smiling, Stranger 2 is glaring.>

Page 5

Stranger 1:

I’m sorry to ask for your presence so early in the morning.

Syaoran:

I would like to know why you called us here.

Also, we have questions we would like to ask.

Stranger 1:

Our master would be happy to answer them.

Page 6

Stranger 1:

She’s been waiting. Let us take you to see her.

<Stranger 2 glares and turns away>

<They walk in the hall. Stranger 2 walks ahead while Stranger 1 walks behind them.>

<Fai glances to the back. Stranger 1 waves at him with a smile. He smiles and waves back.>

Fai:

(to Syaoran) We’re tightly surrounded…

Even though he’s smiling, that guy’s following Kuro-kuro(?) tightly, who looks the strongest in battle among us.

It’s clear they don’t trust us.

Page 7

Syaoran:

… I’ll be careful.

<They reach a small room covered with curtains>

Stranger 2:

… They’re here.

Page 8

<The curtain sweeps aside to reveal the Goddess. She’s sitting cross-legged on the cushions, eating a bowl of noodles with a comical expression on her face. A pile of bowls lay next to her>

Goddess:

Hmm?

Mokona:

Waa-! That’s a lot of bowls!

Syaoran:

No, that-

<The Goddess holds out the bowl to Syaoran>

Goddess:

Would you like some? It’s called Suba (Noodles).

Syaoran:

But- That- I just had some.

Goddess:

Did you like it?

Syaoran:

It’s-

Page 9

Syaoran:

It’s delicious.

<Goddess takes Syaoran’s hands. Her eyes are sparkly>

Goddess:

Suba (Noodles) are delicious, but I love all the other noodles too!

Syaoran:

Eh? Eh?

Goddess:

Let’s eat some noodles!

Syaoran:

EHHH?!

Mokona:

She’s completely different from the festival last night.

Fai:

Yup!

Page 10

<Scene cuts to all of them sitting around a table with bowls of noodles>

Kurogane:

Did you summon us here to eat noodles…?

Goddess:

Itadakimasu!

Two strangers:

Itadakimasu.

Fai:

Considering her tiny frame, she eats a lot.

<Kurogane stares suspiciously at the bowl of noodles in front of him>

Stranger 1:

All the noodles were made from the same pot.

Stranger 2:

There’s no reason for us to poison your meal.

Page 11

Goddess:

You mustn’t waste them.

These are food made from the villagers’ hard work, food they gave us as tribute.

The noodles in particular are special.

Mokona:

Why are they special?

Goddess:

THEY’RE MY FAVOURITE.

<Syaoran pulls out his chopsticks>

Page 12

Syaoran:

Itadakimasu.

<They eat. Mokona steals food from Kurogane’s bowl>

Page 13

Mokona:

That was delicious!

Syaoran:

Thank you for the meal.

Goddess:

Are you full?

Syaoran:

Yes. We had some Suba (Noodles) this morning before we came.

Goddess:

How much did you have?

Syaoran:

Um… one bowl.

Goddess:

You only ate two bowls (in total)?!

Stranger 1:

(to Goddess) That’s normally how much people eat.

Stranger 2:

(to Goddess) Noodles are good, but it’s important to eat some vegetables and fish too.

Goddess:

Mm! (Yes!)

Mokona:

The three of you seem very close! Would you tell us your names?

Stranger 1:

Sorry, we haven’t introduced ourselves.

My name is Sakon.

This (Stranger 2) is Ukon.

[Note: Their names read 左近 and 右近 respectively in the Chinese translations and I’ve only managed to piece the names together from a lot of random googling in Japanese and Mandarin. If the proper kanji pronunciations are different, especially if it’s as a name or title, please let me know!]

Page 14

Sakon:

I’m afraid we have to spare her (the Goddess’) name.

Syaoran:

(to Goddess) Are you concealing your real name?

Goddess:

Aren’t you?

(Background text: Shock)

Syaoran:

Why do you think I am?

Page 15

Ukon:

You should tell us your names before asking any more questions, even if they aren’t real names.

Fai:

You’re the same. Those aren’t your real names, right?

Just like the Goddess’, they are merely titles.

Sakon:

Ukon:

Mokona:

Can I introduce everyone?

Syaoran:

… Yes.

Mokona:

Mokona is Mokona!

Page 16

Mokona:

This is Syaoran! Fai! Kurogane!

Kurogane is short tempered and a drunkard!

Nice to meet everyone!

<Kurogane grabs Mokona>

Kurogane:

What’s with that introduction…?

Sakon:

Ah, you’re saying he has (high?) alcohol capacity.

<Mokona is strangled by Kurogane>

Mokona:

Ahhh!

(Background text: Mokona is turning pear-shaped! Mokona doesn’t look like Mokona anymore!)

Goddess:

Once again, thank you for coming, Syaoran, Kurogane, Fai, Mokona.

Page 17

Syaoran:

Can I ask something first?

Ukon:

Yes.

<Syaoran fishes out the Sakura flower>

Syaoran:

This flower… Is it meant just for me?

Goddess:

Yes.

Syaoran:

Do you know the flower’s name?

Goddess:

Yes.

Page 18

Goddess:

[Sakura]. It’s the name of the person you hold dear.

Page 19

Syaoran:

Did you meet Sakura in a dream?

Goddess:

Yes. That’s because all dreams are connected.

Syaoran:

Do you have the powers of a dreamseer?

Goddess:

It was one of the conditions in becoming a Goddess,

To see the future of Nirai Kanai in order to protect it.

Page 20

Goddess:

Sakura-chan and I dreamed of you and your companions reaching Nirai Kanai. We dreamt of you travelling across worlds and reaching here.

Sakura-chan could see the kind of place this village is,

So she prayed for everyone’s safety and happiness.

But-

Page 21

Goddess:

It has become increasingly difficult to do so.

Syaoran:

On our way here, when we were looking down from the sky,

Page 22

Syaoran:

There was black fog shrouding the edge of the island.

The forest on the island had withered away.

Fai:

Did you really see that?

Syaoran:

Sorry, I thought I was mistaken. But…

Page 23

Goddess:

You weren’t mistaken.

That is not something that could be seen by anyone.

The only ones who can see the anomalies are the people who had touched upon [Yomi].

[Note: Actual translation is ‘Yellow river (黄泉)’. It describes a place where the dead goes to, similar to the Netherworld. The only difference to this is that Yomi is both a state and a place. Using the concept of Ying and Yang, the living is described to be the ‘Yang’ of existence (light), while the dead is ‘Ying’ (the opposite of light).]

Page 24

Syaoran:

Yomi…

Goddess:

The point between life and death, neither living nor dead,

People who had stood at that very point in space and time,

I saw in my dreams that you (Syaoran) were that kind of person.

[Note: The Goddess is referring to Syaoran and Watanuki trapped in the black space shortly after Fei Wong’s death]

Page 25

Syaoran:

Indeed…

Goddess:

You have also returned from that point.

Syaoran:

… Yes.

Goddess:

Only those who had touched upon Yomi and returned could change what is happening in Nirai Kanai. But,

Page 26

Goddess:

You are all travelers.

I’m glad you came to Nirai Kanai, but you are not citizens of this island.

That is why I cannot see the future.

Mokona:

Future?

Goddess:

The choices you and your companions will make, what will happen to Nirai Kanai, a way to stop the abnormalities. Are they all interconnected, I wonder?

Page 27

Kurogane:

Syaoran’s the only one who can change this, right?

Goddess:

Yes. But,

The ones who have to choose are each and every one of you.

Page 28

Fai:

Is that really a good thing…?

Goddess:

Sakura-chan dreamt the same thing. She’s worried that all of you would be hurt again.

Syaoran:

Sakura…

Page 29

Goddess:

To live for the sake of those we hold dear, and to make choices for that sake, that is my request to everyone.

Page 30

Syaoran:

My presence here and now is an inevitability.

Please tell us what’s happening in Nirai Kanai,

And what I can do within my power to help you.

[Syaoran makes a choice. He decides to battle the abnormalities of this world!! Until the next issue!]

  2. Hola, como los personajes de la diosa son parecidos al manga de Gate 7, porque no referirse a los hombres, con los nombres que ellos tienen en el manga

    • Hi, I don’t understand Spanish, but let’s give it a go: the characters from Gate 7 here do have different names from the manga, but as was stated in the chapter, these are merely titles and that they’re true names (which could be assumed to be the same as in Gate 7) are hidden. Hope that helps!
